Following the success of last year’s SMARTHEP programme meeting in Manchester (UK), the SMARTHEP network gathered at Lund University in Sweden between 27th November – 1st December 2023 for its second annual meeting. It was a chance for the ESRs to update the consortium on their research and achievements to date as well as look at their plans for the coming year.
We were delighted to be joined by members of our External Advisory Board: Ivan Kisel (University of Frankfurt), Mike Sokoloff (University of Cincinnati) and Yu Nakahama (KEK-Japan). We were also joined by our Ethics Advisor, Savannah Thais (Columbia University).
During the week, we were able to see some of the great facilities in and around Lund, such as Max-IV and the European Spallation Source (pictured below). The ESRs also had training on topics such as Data Visualisation and Presentation skills.
